so what about you? when do you usually put up the tree, and are you doing it sooner this year?

.... o christmas tree...
today we pulled out the christmas tree. oh, yes, we are beginning the process of decorating for the holidays, even though thanksgiving hasn't even gotten here yet. normally i would never consider putting up a tree before thanksgiving - in fact, i would have thought it was silly. BUT a friend pointed out that thanksgiving is late this year (last year it was on the 22nd), so now we have a reason. i for one would like to be able to have my decorations out for one month, and if we wait until after thanksgiving this year we are basically left with 3 weeks.

yep, already started decorating! we are putting up the tree prob friday..yeah! i didn't think about it being later this year, but i just really wanted my fall stuff down and christmas stuff out! btw...what is the decision on the dog??
Normally I'm really annoyed with Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving, but this year I'm already getting into the "spirit". My family always put our tree up the first weekend in December. We also had a tree decorating night at my grandma's with all the cousins, since her tree is so huge and fun to decorate. I think I'll get a tiny real tree this year myself. My apt needs to look a little festive.
amy here:
if we had a tree, i would put it out beginnning of nov! i have been listening to christmas music for 2 weeks now! i could celebrate christmas 6 months a year! which works out well for me, because they start putting stuff out here at the beginning of october!
We are starting Friday with the tree. In years past we have done Thanksgiving weekend but the tree keeps drying up so we were going to wait. However, then we realized that if we waited until the next weekend, December 6, then the tree would only be up for 2 1/2 weeks! So, Friday it is. Can't seem to bring myself to do it today, though.
Randel, we are already finished with Christmas decor. Kev has to put up more outdoor lights. This is the first time ever we've done this before Thanksgiving but it is late this year and we're hosting the Praise and Worship Christmas party this year on the 5th. We didn't want all of the stress of doing it after Thanksgiving and rushing it all into two days.
I'm feeling a little guilty about it. We've put all of this effort into decorating and have put Thanksgiving on the back burner. Tonight, we're doing our inventory lists. Taking inventory on what everything we are blessed with. Hopefully, this will put us back into the "Thanksgiving" frame of mind.
We wish you guys a great Thanksgiving with the girls. We miss you and are really looking forward to seeing you at the end of December. What are you guys doing for New Years Eve? Want to play a spade -a- thon?????????
my family always went the day after thanksgiving to cut down a christmas tree--and this year we are doing the same--although it is mine and roberts first thanksgiving being married---so i'm trying to convince him that we need to cut down a christmas tree while we are home with my parents...the tree will survive the ride back to atl right? :)
