first of all, i know the amount of traffic i get on this site. it's not enormous, but it's definitely enough to get some different opinions and ideas on my dilemma. i need your opinion internets, so post a comment and help me make a decision. come on friends....
here's the scenario:
you are married with a small child, and graciously volunteered to leave your husband at home and bring your little one with you to come stay with my kids for a few days while steve and i went to a conference in texas.
(wasn't that nice of you? basically leaving your life for 3 days to help a friend? i'm definitely impressed and grateful)
i would love to get your something to bless you for staying at my house with my kids. would you rather have:
1. a gift certificate to your favorite restaurant,
2. a gift certificate to get pampered at a spa,
3. an actual gift of some sort, or
4. something else?
i only have a few days to make a decision, so people let me know your thoughts! all ideas are welcome :)

OK, if this was me, Jen would've wondered why I would do that for you and Steve, but not for her.
But I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess a female friend of yours is the gracious volunteer. In that case, I would go with the spa certificate.
We both agree that a certificate to the spa would be an awesome gift.
What a great friend you have!
First choice - spa
Second choice - restaurant, but with babysitting thrown in.
I would sure love to hear your version of the missing your plane and renting a car to get to the conference story.
The spa! It's something most people can't often justify spending money on.
SPA!!!
ps- yes i know why you know how much traffic you get, you stalk people who come here! Love you! :)
I say get her something practical like jumper cables for her car. She'll forget she even has them...until she actually needs them. Then you won't only be a thoughtful friend...you'll be her hero.
I would go with spa! :) ah, that sounds nice about right now!
spa spa spa!!!
I am with everyone else...SPA! That is something you never go get yourself, so it is much better as a gift.
spa! spa! spa!
wish i could have done it :) (if you would have come to rica i could have!)
and offer to babysit when she goes!
whatever you do include babysitting her child.
definitely SPA, for all of the reasons everyone else said
If you do a spa or restaurant gift certificate, include reciprocal babysitting, if would be needed.
I am more for the restaurant with babysitting included.
ok, the idea for reciprocal babysitting is nice but she lives 1 1/2 hours away.. so i pretty much can't watch her child while she spa's it up... :(
thanks for the feedback peeps!! :)
That is why I am sticking with the practical idea: jumper cables. It looks better and better.
"Candlesticks always make a nice gift, and uh, maybe you could find out where she's registered and maybe a place-setting or maybe a silverware pattern."
I say you and Steve go stay at her house for the weekend and watch her kids so they can have some alone time.... Welcome back!!!!
